TobyHaving a staycation this March Break?

There’s still plenty you can do here at home. You can find great activities for your whole family across the municipality.

With the weather warming up, there is so much to do outside. Have you ever explored the Salt Marsh Trail? Dress warm and pack a picnic lunch! Explore this amazing trail system and have lunch outside with an amazing view. View the map here.

Shubie Park is a gem in Dartmouth. You can hike, bike and explore amazing trails. Have a family member interested in history or engineering? Visit the Fairbanks Centre at 54 Locks Road in Dartmouth and learn more about the Shubenacadie Canal Waterway.  Dartmouth has a rich history worth exploring.

We’re lucky to have some great facilities for swimming and other types of physical activity here in Dartmouth-Cole Harbour. The Dartmouth Sportsplex and Cole Harbour Place have open swims throughout March Break.  Here is the Dartmouth Sportsplex swimming schedule and the schedule for Cole Harbour Place.

Have you been to the Farmers’ Market at Alderney in Dartmouth? This is a fantastic market filled with wonderful vendors. You can find fruits, vegetables and so much more. This vibrant market is a great excursion for the whole family.

March Break is a great time to explore museums and galleries. Go visit my friend Gus over at the Natural History Museum. He’s quiet but always up for a visit. Learn more here.

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia always has wonderful exhibits and is worth visiting regularly. I’ve heard that they are having extra classes for youth during March Break. Read more about it here.

I hope you and your family have a safe and fun March Break!
