JUST ANNOUNCED IN DARTMOUTH:
Thrilled to join Ministers Hodgson and Fraser, MP Braedon Clark, and Premier Tim Houston to announce $100 million to advance Wind West, and lay the foundation for a globally competitive offshore wind industry in Atlantic Canada.
We also announced nearly $3 million for Net Zero Atlantic to expand existing modelling to include transmission of offshore wind power from Nova Scotia to Quebec, Ontario, and beyond.
Nova Scotia has some of the strongest winds in the world and, let me tell you, it was blowing a gale at today’s announcement!
Harnessing those winds presents a transformative $1 trillion economic opportunity for Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada.
Wind West is a key part of the Atlantic Energy Strategy and has the potential to generate enough clean electricity to power Nova Scotia while exporting additional renewable energy to other provinces!
This is a massive opportunity for our province. It means good jobs, reliable clean power, and a stronger economy here at home.
