Although we can never bring back those who are lost, we will continue to provide Indigenous communities across the country with the funding and resources they need to bring these terrible wrongs to light.

And in memory of all the children who went missing while attending residential schools, and in support of their grieving families and communities, our Government has been working with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation to develop and maintain the National Residential School Student Death Register and to establish and maintain an online registry of residential school cemeteries.

So far, this work has documented more than 4,000 cases. There is much more work to do.
