We just Announced an EXTRA $13 Million to Build More Affordable Homes in the Halifax Regional Municipality!

Although housing generally falls within the provincial government’s jurisdiction, our Government has taken an active role by investing in affordable housing, and we will continue doing everything we can to help make sure that individuals and families have a safe place to call home. It’s the right thing to do.

• We just announced an EXTRA $13 million through the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI) to build more affordable homes for individuals and families in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
• These housing units will support Canadians who are in uncertain housing situations, experiencing or at risk of homelessness, or living in temporary shelters because of the pandemic.
• This is in addition to the Government of Canada’s previous investment of $8.7 million through the first phase of the Rapid Housing Initiative to support the creation of housing units in our municipality.
• The Rapid Housing Initiative is just one funding stream in our Government’s 10-year plan to invest $72 billion to help give more Canadians a safe place to live.
