Goodbye expensive and inefficient oil heat, hello efficient cold-climate heat pump!
I joined Minister Sean Fraser today at Efficiency One in Dartmouth to officially launch the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program.
REGISTRATION IS OPEN and eligible homeowners can receive up to $5,000 in federal support from this program, while taking advantage of up to $5,000 from the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) and further support from the Province of Nova Scotia! Yes, you can combine them all!
We know that oil heat is expensive, and so many Nova Scotians are still heating their homes with oil.
This program specifically helps low-to-median income households that currently heat their homes with oil, transition to electric cold-climate heat pumps.
The OHPA Grant provides up to $5,000, to cover costs for the purchase and installation of an eligible Cold Climate air source heat pump, plus:
- electrical and mechanical upgrades required for the new heat pump;
- safe removal of the oil tank;
- purchase and installation of electric back-up heating system; and
- replacement of hot water tank (if oil-fired).
