Many will remember when HMCS Terra Nova, HMCS Athabaskan and HMCS Protecteur departed the Halifax Harbour for operations in the Persian Gulf.
Today marks the anniversary of the end of the Gulf War (1990-1991), a conflict that saw more than 4,000 Canadians serve alongside our allies as part of a Coalition of countries. This was the first conflict where Canadian women played an active combat role.
🇨🇦 Following the conflict, many Canadians served in peacekeeping and embargo enforcement efforts in the region.
We are deeply grateful to all who have served and continue to serve, both at home and abroad, in times of peace and in conflict.
Canada Remembers.
