Today we announced our plan for rebuilding, rearming, and reinvesting in our Canadian Armed Forces.
With this major increase in defence investment, Canada will meet NATO’s 2% spending target THIS year. That’s 5 years ahead of schedule.
This investment will also bring huge benefits to our local defence sector—supporting good jobs here in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour and right across HRM.
What today’s announcement means:
- Better pay for Canadian Armed Forces, and improved recruitment and retention
- New aircraft, armed vehicles, and ammunition
- Repairing and maintaining existing ships, aircraft, and other assets
- More health care funding and staff for Armed Forces personnel
- Arctic Over-the-Horizon Radar
- Joint Counter-Drone Program
- Joint Support Ships
- Long-range precision strike capability
