Our Canadian Parliament is steeped in tradition, and I was honoured to have the opportunity to take part in the Whips’ Walk in the House of Commons.

As the bells ring and Members gather to vote, the Whips of both the government and the Official Opposition (or their delegates, like me) enter the Chamber together, walk up the aisle, and bow to one another before taking their seats.

This special convention signals to the Speaker that the House is ready to proceed with the vote. Having witnessed this tradition many times over the years, I was honoured to have the opportunity to take part in it.
