We are all Treaty People.

On Treaty Day, we reaffirm and celebrate the Peace and Friendship Treaties signed between the Crown and the Mi’kmaq people.

Today, I attended a flag raising and reception in honour of Treaty Day, hosted by His Honour the Honourable Mike Savage, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, alongside the Grand Chief and Grand Keptin.

Today also marks the beginning of Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia, an opportunity to reflect on and learn more about Mi’kmaq culture, traditions, and contributions.
