As you know, I firmly believe in the importance of the Canada Disability Benefit.
I advocated for it in the beginning and I want you to know that I haven’t stopped. I won’t stop until it’s a reality.
A meaningful Canada Disability Benefit will empower more people living with a disability to be full participants in all aspects of our society.
Affordability has always remained top of mind for our government. We are the government that implemented the Canada Child Benefit and lifted hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty. We are the government that increased and enhanced Old Age Security, and introduced $10/day child care.
A meaningful Canada Disability Benefit will help lift millions of Canadians with disabilities out of poverty—they simply cannot wait. I am calling on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance to properly fund the Canada Disability Benefit in Budget 2024.
