After the Throne Speech, Minister Champagne tabled a Ways and Means Motion: to cut taxes, bring down costs, and make life more affordable for Canadians

It’s been a busy day at Parliament!

Right after today’s Throne Speech, Minister Champagne tabled a Ways and Means Motion—our first orders of business to cut taxes, bring down costs, and make life more affordable for Canadians.

Here’s what it means for you:

• Tax relief for nearly 22 million Canadians—two-income families could save up to $840 a year.
• No GST for first-time buyers on new homes up to $1 million—saving folks up to $50,000.
• Lower GST for homes between $1M–$1.5M.
• Formally removing the consumer carbon price, following its cancellation, effective April 1, 2025.
