Our paddling and rowing clubs are a huge part of our community here in Dartmouth. They promote and cultivate a healthy active lifestyle by creating and fostering athletes- and- they’ve ensured that more folks can participate in sport – building a strong sense of community pride.

When we invest in infrastructure improvements and facility upgrades- we make it easier for our athletes to get the training they need and the experience they deserve.

On  behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA- I am pleased to announce a total non-repayable investment of $86,000 in four of our amazing aquatic clubs through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

This means Senobe will get to upgrade their facilities with new windows, siding, roofing and more. Abenaki on Bell Lake will be able to make repairs to their grounds. Banook Canoe Club will be making major repairs and upgrades to their facilities. And, they’ll be making the facility more accessible with the replacement of a wheel chair ramp. Last but not least, right here at the Mic Mac Aquatic Club I’m pleased to say that they’ll be using their investment to undertake energy efficiency upgrades.

“Today’s investment in outdoor recreational infrastructure helps to ensure that four respected Dartmouth community groups will continue to grow and prosper.

Visitors and residents alike, whether they are training competitively or discovering canoeing or kayaking as a new activity, will enjoy the refurbished facilities as they pursue active living on our lakes”

Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament, Dartmouth-Cole Harbour
