I was honoured to be a part of today’s Canada’s Naval Memorial – HMCS Sackville announcement.
I joined the Hon. Scott Brison, Bernadette Jordan and Darrell Samson to announce a $3.5M contribution to provide extensive repair work with the ultimate goal of restoring and preserving this great ship.
The HMCS Sackville is the last surviving Flower-class corvette that served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War! The Sackville is a model pride and a symbol of the courage of Canada’s sailors, who battled and sacrificed at sea in service of this country and the freedoms we enjoy today.
The Canadian Naval Memorial Trust (a non-profit organization) has been working to preserve the HMCS Sackville back to just as she was in 1944.
