I’ve learned that someone trampled on hundreds of daffodils at the Daffodil Garden for Cancer Survivors. If you see someone vandalizing spaces in our community, please report it. This was a shameful act.

I know that so many of you planted bulbs this year in honour and in memory of your loved ones. And I know this news is hard to hear as this beautiful garden is in honour of those who give hope to others battling cancer.

Like those battling cancer, the daffodil is a resilient and tough bulb. It survives throughout the winter in the cold and harsh earth, and when it’s ready, it bursts open with bright yellow sunshine. A symbol of hope. These bulbs may not get to shine this time around, but with so many volunteers planting bulbs, caring, and tending to this beautiful space, I know it’ll shine brighter than before.

April is Daffodil Month, let’s wrap ourselves around those in our community who are affected by cancer, and show our support.
