From handling a high volume of cargo vessels, to welcoming cruise ships filled with tourists—the Port of Halifax helps drive Nova Scotia’s economy.
It was great to join my fellow MPs Andy Fillmore & Lena Metlege Diab at the Port of Halifax, where Minister Omar Alghabra announced Canada’s comprehensive plan to welcome cruise ships back safely to our waters!
We know that the maritime and tourism sectors have been hit so hard by the pandemic, and this public health plan will help bring more tourists back to our region, while working to keep folks safe.
The Minister also announced a $7 million investment to help build a new on-site maritime container examination facility at the port, keeping more trucks with containers off the road!
