BUILD MORE HOMES!!

From accelerating the construction of new rental apartments here in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour, to getting more truly affordable housing built here—we’re taking serious measures to tackle the housing crisis and jumpstart housing construction.

Today, Canada’s Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland delivered the Fall Economic Statement which includes more measures to build more homes, faster.

Here are a few housing highlights:

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

We’re going to deliver an extra $1 billion to build more truly affordable housing. And we’ll support non-profit, co-op and public housing providers to get it done.

MORE RENTAL APARTMENTS

We’re going to provide more low-cost loans to ensure that more rental apartments are built in our community and across Canada.

NEW CANADIAN MORTGAGE CHARTER

When folks put their hard earned money into their home, they deserve to be protected. With so many mortgage renewals around the corner, we’re introducing targeted measures to protect Canadians with mortgages, including access to tailored mortgage relief.

HOMES NOT AIRBNBS

We’re cracking down on non-compliant short-term rentals that should be homes for those who need them in our communities. Our plan will build on measures taken by the municipality and the province.
