Dartmouth—Cole Harbour remembers those lost and injured due to the Halifax Explosion.
In Miꞌkmaꞌki, along the shores of Halifax Harbour today, Mi’kmaw Elders, Catherine Martin of Millbrook and Joe Michael of Indian Brook led a beautiful ceremony in memory of those lost at Turtle Grove.
In Dartmouth North, at the Mont Blanc Cannon site, many gathered, including students from John MacNeil Elementary, to learn, and to remember.
On December 6th 1917, The SS Imo collided with the explosive laden SS Mont Blanc in the Harbour, killing around 2,200 people and injuring more than 10,000.
