Thrilled to deliver $1.2 million in federal funding to help renovate this incredible non-profit club, making it more accessible for paddlers of all abilities, more energy efficient, and ready to serve our community for generations to come.
Some of the upgrades will include more accessible entrances, washrooms and pathways, new solar panels and energy-efficient improvements, an expanded kitchen, and the replacement of the kayak and dragon boat docks with new accessible and climate-resilient infrastructure.
For more than 100 years, the Mic Mac Amateur Aquatic Club has brought people together on the shores of Lake Banook. From elite athletes competing for gold, to families making lifelong memories at dances and barbecues, this place is part of what makes Dartmouth so special.
Mic Mac AAC is so much more than a paddling club. It’s a gathering place. Generations of families have marked some of life’s biggest moments here, from weddings and anniversaries to celebrations of life. I can’t wait to see these upgrades take shape and help ensure even more people can enjoy everything Mic Mac has to offer for years to come.
