Hi folks,

During our Government’s National Pharmacare announcement, I had a chat with Raina. She has Type 1 Diabetes and once our plan is in place, she won’t have to worry about coverage for her diabetes medication anymore.

She won’t have to worry about the fact that her parents are worrying about paying for her medication.

No kid, no one at all in Canada, should have to worry about things like this.

No one should have to choose between putting groceries on the table or paying for the prescription drugs they need.

And that’s why we’re working on delivering National Universal Pharmacare. You guys know that I’ve been pushing this one for a while, but it’s because it will make such a big difference for so many.

Bill C-64, the Pharmacare Act lays a strong framework for National Universal Pharmacare and it also includes some other life-changing improvements for so many:

Diabetes Medication & Devices
We’re looking to collaborate with the provinces & territories to provide universal single-payer coverage for a range of diabetes medications, along with working on supporting better access to diabetes supplies and devices.

Contraceptives
We’re looking to collaborate with the provinces & territories to provide universal, single-payer coverage for a range of contraceptives. (example: oral contraceptives and IUDs).

Like I always say, we’re stronger when we work together. And we’ll work with any party who wants to work with us to do right by Canadians.

Can’t wait to get this done.

Best,

-Darren
