I’m super excited about the new $50-million CanCode program! Earlier in the week, I sat down with Minister Navdeep Bains and he explained the program to me.
Over the next two years, it will give 500,000 students from primary to Grade 12, the opportunity to learn the in-demand digital skills to prepare them for future jobs!
Part of the Innovation and Skills Plan, CanCode will also encourage more young women, Indigenous Canadians and other under-represented groups to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math. We know that virtually every job today relies on the ability of Canadian workers to solve problems using digital skills- and each year the demand grows! To support this important initiative, CanCode will equip 500 teachers across the country with the training and tools to teach digital skills and computer coding.
Love it!
