Fantastic day with the Minister of National Defence, Anita Anand.

We started the day off at Defence Research and Development Canada in Dartmouth, listening and learning from brilliant and innovative researchers, engineers and scientists.

Then we headed to the naming of the 4th Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship—the newly named HMCS William Hall. I was touched to hear more about William Hall’s incredible story from his descendants.

William Hall was the first Black person, first Nova Scotian, and one of the very first Canadians to receive the Victoria Cross.

I encourage you to read more about his life story here: https://maritimemuseum.novascotia.ca/coll…/william-hall-vc

Thank you to Irving Shipbuilding Inc. for hosting, and to all of Nova Scotia’s incredible shipbuilders whose expertise and hard work are helping us modernize the Royal Canadian Navy fleet!!
