When I found out that Finance Minister Bill Morneau would be in town for a pre-budget consultation in Halifax- I knew I had to show him Downtown Dartmouth.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and downtown Dartmouth is flourishing due to young entrepreneurs doing their best to make a go of it. It’s those young entrepreneurs that are breathing new life into downtown.
Owner Kate Hamilton hosted Minister Morneau for a chat about how best to serve small businesses in #Budget2017
He mentioned the importance of entrepreneurship and the need for local small businesses to thrive. I was pleased to have Mayor Mike Savage in attendance as well. Bodega Boutique on Portland Street was the perfect backdrop for our discussion.
The Minister finished his quick visit by stopping in at New Scotland Clothing Co to pick out a shirt. These guys are located on Wentworth Street and are really working that brand!
Afterward I took him on the cheapest and BEST cruise in town! We headed on to the Dartmouth Ferry for the pre-budget consultation in Halifax. What a great morning!
