Busy week in Ottawa so far! Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland just tabled Budget 2023, our government’s plan to build a stronger, more sustainable, and more secure Canadian economy—for everyone.
I want to take a moment to highlight a few measures that will benefit folks back home!
Those of us in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour already know that investing in the clean economy creates good middle class jobs. Our government will be ramping things up right across the country by making transformative investments to build Canada’s clean economy, creating more jobs while helping workers transition to the jobs of today and the future. Can’t wait to see this incredible industry continue to grow and provide jobs for folks in Nova Scotia.
A stronger Canada means helping those who need it the most. We’re introducing new, targeted inflation relief supports for those most vulnerable in our community. And I want you to know that this new support has been carefully designed to avoid exacerbating inflation. Measures like the newly proposed grocery benefit, delivered through the GST Credit program, would help those who deeply struggle with higher prices on essential goods.
Whether you’re waiting too long for a surgery, struggling to see your doctor, struggling to even get a doctor, we all know that Canada’s universal public health care system is under enormous strain. That’s why Budget 2023 includes significant investments to strengthen our public health care system, along with ensuring that more Canadians can access affordable dental care.
