I was pleased to bring this great news back home to Dartmouth – Cole Harbour!
The Somme Branch 31 Royal Canadian Legion on King Street in Dartmouth is upgrading its facilities. Today, the Government of Canada announced a $25,000 contribution from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program to support improvements to the building. The Government of Nova Scotia is investing $10,000.
Community facilities across Canada play a critical role in boosting both quality of life and economic activity through community-based partnerships. Many of these facilities are in need of updates and repairs.
The Somme Branch Legion received the support to acquire a new heating system. The system will enable the Legion to better serve residents as it hosts meetings, entertainment and other community events. This project will contribute to the preservation of the Legion as a vital resource for Nova Scotians to commemorate the service of veterans.
