Recently, I had the privilege of attending a Parks Canada ceremony, honouring Floyd H. Prosser, as a Hometown Hero.

Originally from Elgin, New Brunswick, Floyd enlisted in the Canadian Army Active Service Force in 1941. He courageously served with the 1ST Canadian Armoured Brigade whose notable accomplishments led him to be honoured with the 1939-1945 Star, The Italy Star, The France, and Germany Star, and more.

In his retirement, Floyd selflessly devoted his time to the Royal Canadian Legion. He was also a proud supporter of their annual Poppy Campaign.

I was truly honoured to be a part of such a special day for the Prosser family. I appreciated hearing the touching and poignant family memories shared by Floyd’s grandson, Jeffrey, and great-granddaughter Marissa.

Through the Hometown Heroes Program, Canadians can remember and honour outstanding individuals and pay tribute to their many contributions to our country and communities.
