My gosh. My heart is bursting after this AMAZING event. You should have seen the kids’ faces when they heard the news!

I just delivered a $315,000 investment through ACOA to Abenaki Aquatic Club, so they can build a brand-new clubhouse and boathouse.

For over 50 years, this Club has been on beautiful Bell Lake. Abenaki, with its incredible volunteers, and aging facilities, has brought joy and a real sense of community to countless families in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour.

I can’t think of a better place for little ones to spend their summers, than enjoying the lake. From swimming, to paddling, and spending time with friends and loved ones, this is a great place to be.

A year ago, I had a super tour with Commodore Jennifer Mosher, and learned more about the challenges the aging buildings are facing. And I learned all about the hopes and dreams folks had for the Club. Big ideas. BIG dreams.

Abenaki has always been the little club that could. With incredible volunteers working very hard to make sure everyone had a great time here. But I can tell you Abenaki is the little club that CAN.

The new two-story facility will replace the existing building. It will house equipment and enable the Club to provide accessible recreational programming to community members. This new boathouse will make an already great community place even more fun, safe, and accessible!

I believe in Abenaki, and our Government understands in the importance of investing in great community spaces like this wonderful non-profit paddling club in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour.

Huge thanks to all orders of government for stepping up and making this happen. And thank you to every volunteer, past and present, who gave their time and effort to keep this wonderful Club going.

And a special shout-out to Becky Kent – Councillor District 3 for supporting this project, and for joining me in a impromptu cannonball competition!!!! I think it was a tie! (Scroll through the photos to the end)
