I had a wonderful time with MLA Kelly Regan, celebrating ElderDog Canada and their special programs for senior dogs AND senior humans.
Founded here in Nova Scotia, ElderDog Canada’s programs support older dogs by finding them loving homes, and they support seniors by bringing dogs to visit folks in long-term care homes, helping seniors with their dog care, and pairing them with the right senior dog.
Their annual dog walk was well attended and it’s an important fundraiser for this registered charity.
I shared my Mother-in-law’s story about how ElderDog brought a very special friend into her life, a senior dog named Miley. Miley came into her life at a challenging time and they gave so much to each other. I’ve seen first-hand how these programs change lives for the better.
Afterwards, so many people came up to me to share their personal stories of their elder dog, and the stories of how their loved ones lives were improved by an elder dog.
Thank you to Dr. Adra Cole and the numerous volunteers who give their time to supporting seniors and elder dogs! So grateful for all you do.
Bonus points if you can name the dog on my shirt!
