This morning I laid a wreath at the Battle of the Atlantic Remembrance Ceremony held at Commodore Park by the Royal Canadian Legion, Centennial Branch 160.
From the fall of 1939 until spring of 1945, the Battle of the Atlantic was the longest battle of the Second World War.
Between the Newfoundland and Canadian Merchant Navy sailors and RCN/RCAF officers, thousands were lost and so many were wounded.
We owe a debt of gratitude to the brave women and men who served, sacrificed, and helped lead the Allies to victory.
