I’m at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session in Vilnius, Lithuania with several of my colleagues representing Canada. The NATO alliance has never been more relevant or more united in my lifetime.
I was deeply moved when Ukrainian MP Mariana Bezuhla took time to join us virtually from the frontline in the Donbas region to brief us on the latest fighting and to warn members about Russia’s latest efforts to destroy Europe’s democratic order.
MP Bezuhla had to take shelter and cut the briefing short, but her words stuck with me, “that shelling that you hear is a sign of how this order is being broken at every moment.”
