When you’re from Dartmouth, people don’t ask you IF you paddle, they ask you WHERE you paddle!

It is fantastic to see the iconic David M Jones Judges Tower revitalized on beautiful Lake Banook.

I delivered $92,144 through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund, to replace the deteriorating floating dock system at the non-profit Atlantic Division Canoe Kayak Canada (ADCKC) facilities with new safer, more accessible systems. These dock systems hold more canoes and kayaks and helped ensure that our facilities on Lake Banook were capable of hosting incredible events like Canoe ’22 and the North American Indigenous Games 2023.

I also delivered a contribution of $150,000 which allowed HRM to repair and replace several sections of the Lake Banook boardwalk, ensuring this special trail system is safer and more accessible for folks in our community and for visitors who come to enjoy this incredible place.

With the incredible success of Canoe ‘22 and the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG 2023), to kids paddling in their first regattas for non-profit paddling clubs on beautiful Lake Banook — the canoe kayak facilities and boardwalk on the lake are so important to Dartmouth.

The support we’ve delivered will ensure that future international events are as successful and exciting, while ensuring safer recreational spaces for our community to enjoy.
