It’s the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, a time to reaffirm our commitment to making Canada a safer place for people from the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
It is heartbreaking and horrifying to see more incidents reported in HRM involving youth motivated by hate, destroying Pride flags:

We must stand together to support the 2SLGBTQI+ community here in HRM, across Canada, and abroad. We must be active bystanders when witnessing hate and discrimination in all forms. We must stand up against it, speak up, and report hateful acts.
Let’s teach kids that everyone in our community should be able to be who they are, and be able to love free from discrimination.
Free from hate.
Federally, from banning conversion therapy, to updating laws to protect gender identity and gender expression—we are taking action to make Canada safer for the 2SLGBTQI+ community. There is a lot more work to do and we are committed to doing everything we can:
