The Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) in Dartmouth is home to incredible scientists and researchers who are always working hard to make our oceans cleaner, healthier, and safe.
Today, Minister Mona Fortier joined me in Dartmouth to meet with the incredible team at BIO, and we had an opportunity to see our Government’s Greening Government Fund in action. The Government HAS to lead by example by working hard to reduce green house gas emissions from our operations — this is so important.
BIO is home to the Seawater Heating project, which was funded through the Greening Government Fund. This innovative project uses a seawater-sourced geothermal heat pump system to provide hot water for radiant space heating and general use throughout the facility — reducing the use of natural gas by 87%! Love this project.
And huge thanks to the folks at BIO for all you do! We’re so lucky to have you here in Dartmouth!
