Not too long ago, young people had to leave this province to find good jobs. Now, they’re training for jobs of today and tomorrow in Nova Scotia, and they’re starting and growing their careers here at home.

Whenever I visit Marine Fabricators, Woodside Industries, or the Halifax Shipyard, I’m blown away by the number of highly skilled shipbuilders working here and building our country’s future fleet.

Today, Minister Sean Fraser announced funding for major infrastructure expansion and enhancements to all 3 facilities to support building the Royal Canadian Navy’s Canadian Surface Combatant ships!

The Halifax Shipyard is building 6 Arctic and Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Royal Canadian Navy, and today, they cut steel for the 7th, which will join the Canadian Coast Guard’s fleet!

Nova Scotian shipbuilders are incredible. And I’m so proud of the work they’re doing to support our Navy and Coast Guard. Thank you for all you do!
