Our Government is engaged, and we’re coordinating efforts across all orders of government to make sure Atlantic Canadians are prepared and safe.

Earlier today, Deputy Mayor Tony Mancini, MLA Tim Halman and I visited the East Dartmouth Community Centre as it’s one of three emergency shelters open across the municipality during Hurricane Dorian.

We thanked the folks from Red Cross who are working hard to provide a safe, comfortable space for folks in need during the storm.

Thank you to all of the volunteers, essential workers and first responders who are working through out the storm to help and protect others.

This shelter is open for folks who are evacuating from coastal areas, and it’s open for those who need a safe place to stay during the storm. Pets too! Shout out to the folks at The Disaster Animal Response Team of Nova Scotia who are taking care of pets during the storm. Kennels are set up at the Community Centre.

The East Dartmouth Community Centre opened today as a shelter at noon. It’s at 50 Caledonia Road in Dartmouth.

Please be safe out there, folks.
