Remembrance Day is heavily respected and ceremonies are well supported in Dartmouth-Cole Harbour.
The torch of remembrance has been passed to us, the people of Canada by our Veterans. It’s our responsibility to ensure that the memory of their efforts and sacrifices do not die with them. Thousands of you came out to Sullivan’s Pond in Dartmouth to show your support and to show that you will remember them. Lest we forget.
Later in the afternoon our community had a smaller ceremony- also of real importance.
We remembered our friend and neighbour, Petty Officer 2nd Class Craig Blake- the first Canadian sailor to be killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. Along with the family of Craig Blake, we remembered him and we laid our wreaths in remembrance.
Here are some photos from the Sullivan’s Pond Remembrance Day ceremony and the ceremony at Craig Blake Memorial Park.
