Today compassion and good sense has prevailed over red tape.
My fellow Nova Scotia caucus colleagues and I have been working tirelessly advocating on behalf of Mr. Blindheim and other Veterans with similar urgent needs.
Over the past few months my colleagues and I have met with Minister Hehr several times to go over issues with admission to Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital as Mr. Blindheim is not alone. Veterans are slipping through the cracks and we know they deserve better.
When we work together we achieve more. The Province of Nova Scotia and Veterans Affairs have come up with an immediate solution for Mr. Blindheim and Veterans in similar situations.
Mr. Blindheim’s case has sparked a review to better address long term care needs for Veterans and I am hopeful that others will benefit. We must never let red tape prevent Veterans from receiving the long-term care they need and deserve.
Although I am pleased with this result, our advocacy for Veterans does not end here.
I remain committed to advocating for our Veterans, as do my colleagues.
Canadians expect more from all levels of government and better for Veterans.
Sincerely,
Darren Fisher, MP
