Thank you.
Thank you to the first responders and all of the incredible volunteers who continue to do everything they can to support Nova Scotians.
And thank you to the incredible volunteers and staff at the Nova Scotia SPCA for everything you’ve been doing to help pets and farm animals in crisis during these wildfires.
From working with first responders to gather pets from evacuated homes, to providing a safe place for pets of evacuated residents—the work you’re doing is deeply meaningful. You’re providing a very important service and comfort to those most impacted.
When I visited the Dartmouth SPCA to drop off some treats for volunteers and staff, it was so touching to meet a grateful family, so excited to see their cat who is staying safe there during the evacuation.
My heart goes out to everyone impacted by these fires, and those who have lost their beloved family pets.
FYI:
The folks at the SPCA told me they’re looking for donations of gas cards to give staff and volunteers who are driving to Shelburne County and other places to help rescue pets.
