The Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) project is the largest, most complex procurement ever undertaken by the Government of Canada. The CSCs will form the backbone of Canada’s Navy and will be our major surface component of maritime combat power for decades to come!
Did you know that the previous government slashed Canada’s defence budget, only committing funding for 9 Canadian Surface Combatants to be built in Halifax? Canadians know that our Navy deserves better. Last year we announced a fully-funded commitment to build 15 Canadian Surface Combatants in Halifax.
During the construction of the Canadian Surface Combatant ships, the labour force at Irving will rise by 50%!
Our Government’s commitment to Nova Scotian shipbuilding will ensure that Irving Shipbuilding’s workforce will grow significantly for many years to come.
