I joined Indigenous athletes on the shores of beautiful Lake Banook to announce that the Government of Canada is providing a $4 million contribution to support the Halifax 2020 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG)!

Next summer’s events will take place on Dartmouth’s Lake Banook, in Halifax, and in Millbrook First Nation.

Providing valuable training and competition experience, these Games play an important role in the development of young Indigenous athletes. This is the first time NAIG will be held in Atlantic Canada. More than just sport competitions, NAIG will include a dynamic and vibrant cultural program.

Thank you to Elder Joe Michael, George “Tex” Marshall, Minister Leo Glavine, Rod Jacobs, Deputy Mayor Tony Mancini, our flag bearers, the NAIG 2020 Organizing Committee, Atlantic Division CanoeKayak Canada, and everyone who took time out of their day to join us at this wonderful event.

This event is great news for Dartmouth—Cole Harbour!
