I stopped by the Jordan Boyd Celebrity Hockey Challenge at the Dartmouth 4-Pad over the weekend. To date, the tournament has raised $700,000 for inherited heart disease research! I met his grandfather and sister and I am blown away by their ability to create so much good out such a loss.
Jordan was a 16-year-old QMJHL drafted athlete who collapsed on the ice and passed away, with no history of illness. Later it was discovered that he had an inherited heart condition called ARVC (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricle Cardiomyopathy). Now the Jordan Boyd Foundation raises money to educate and raise awareness of inherited heart diseases in young people and particularly athletes.
