On Friday we celebrated the incredible history of the Shubenacadie Canal Marine Railway with the official ribbon cutting ceremony at the Flume House in Dartmouth’s Starr Park.
This momentous occasion was made possible by numerous volunteers, stakeholders and government partners. As a proud former member of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission, and as a former Councillor, I remember the countless hours so many volunteers have put into this project.
We’ve watched this project go from a dream to reality, and I am so proud of our community for making it happen.
The day was also bittersweet, as we remembered the late Doug Brownrigg who breathed new life into this project and was integral to its success.
