We are fast-tracking the first phase of Shannon Park in Dartmouth!
Through Build Canada Homes, our Government is prioritizing Shannon Park for new factory-built housing—helping more families and individuals find a safe place to call home, sooner.
Shannon Park is a Canada Lands Company redevelopment, and it’s a generational opportunity for Dartmouth—Cole Harbour.
Separate from this announcement, the Province of Nova Scotia has already purchased the first two parcels of the site for 600 units of affordable housing. That was important progress and ensures the original 20% affordable housing target will be met.
What’s new today is that our Government, through Build Canada Homes, is stepping in to deliver even more affordable housing—rapidly building the first phase on the Eastern side. Because these homes will be factory-built, we can get folks into homes sooner.
This means we’re delivering even more affordable housing in Shannon Park than originally committed!
I’m excited to share that remediation of the land is expected to begin this fall. This is the critical first step to getting shovels in the ground and families into homes.
And believe me—I’ll be pushing hard every step of the way. Shannon Park is a once-in-a-generation chance to build a complete, thriving new community in Dartmouth. There’s no time to waste!
