I want public servants to know that I have consistently advocated for flexibility in the workplace, including the continued use of hybrid arrangements, and I will continue to do so.
Through my many conversations with public servants, I’ve heard firsthand how much the nature of work has evolved. Many teams are now spread across the country, and much of the workday is spent on Teams calls rather than in-person meetings. The workplace has changed in very real ways.
Public servants showed all of us during the COVID-19 pandemic that they could pivot quickly, step up, and continue delivering for Canadians through incredibly challenging circumstances, including while working from home. That commitment and professionalism did not go unnoticed. While not every role is suited to remote work, where flexibility is possible, it can meaningfully support productivity, morale, and overall workplace well-being.
I hear the concerns being raised, and I take them seriously. I will continue to speak up and advocate for public servants here in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour and across the country.
