Today at the NSCC Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth, I announced a $1.2 million contribution, through ACOA, to enable Nova Scotia Community College – NSCC to purchase leading-edge equipment so it can focus on boosting applied research in local clean technology, agriculture, fisheries, as well as in the marine and manufacturing sectors!

As we all know, the business world has changed drastically in the last twenty years with the eruption of the internet and ever-changing technological advances. New graduates entering the workforce require different skill-sets than those needed by prior generations. In fact, more than 53% of organizations say that attracting and retaining skilled employees is one of their top challenges. NSCC has recognized this and is working with industry to create talent and resources that help build our local economy.

A $1,207,500 contribution will add a deployable micro-grid for clean energy and a post 3D metal printing technology to NSCC’s Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth.

Through the use of the micro-grid, students enrolled in NSCC’s information technology programs will receive substantial benefits and gain valuable, sought-after skills for the well-paying jobs of the present and future.

How awesome is that?
