UPDATE: Our Government’s Bill C-64, the Pharmacare Act received Royal Assent, becoming law across Canada!

As you know, I am a BIG supporter of National Universal Pharmacare.

I don’t believe that anyone should have to choose between paying their rent or paying for the prescription drugs they need. No one should need to stretch out their insulin to make it last longer.

Canada is the only country in the world with universal health care that doesn’t provide universal coverage for prescription drugs. We’re working hard to change that.

We’ve laid out a strong framework for National Universal Pharmacare, based on the guiding principles of universal, single-payer, public pharmacare for Canada.

‼️ WHAT HAPPENS NOW ‼️

As a FIRST phase, we will immediately begin negotiating with the provinces are territories to:

  • Cover a range of diabetes medications like insulin – saving Canadians up to $1,700, reducing the risk of serious health complications and improving quality of life.
  • Make prescription contraceptives free – from birth control to IUD devices to the morning after pill – to support reproductive freedom and improve quality of life.

Wouldn’t it be incredible if Nova Scotia was one of the first provinces to step up and sign on to National Pharmacare? Looking at you, Premier Houston.

This is just the FIRST phase, and I won’t stop advocating until all Nova Scotians have FULL access to National Universal Pharmacare across the board.
