Imagine going on a camping trip and being able to charge all of your devices from the little wind turbine you brought along in your pack. This is a reality thanks to the Shine Turbine!

Companies in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour are doing big things. And women-led Aurea Technologies, the creator of the amazing Shine Turbine, is one of the companies leading the way.

Today we announced an investment of nearly $400,000 to help Aurea grow, innovate, and get more of their Shine Turbines to market from right here in Dartmouth.

It was only a few years ago that Cat Adalay and Rachel Carr took an amazing idea, and launched the Shine Turbine through crowdfunding. Today, the Shine Turbine is a reality and this company is ready to grow here in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour.

For Aurea, a wind turbine isn’t just that huge turbine you see in a field, to them its something that should be accessible for everyone.

It was great to hear from Chris Surette of Dartmouth’s A for Adventure, who told us about how he’s able charge his drones and camera gear when going out filming on wilderness adventures.

Think about the power outage we had the other day. When you have a Shine Turbine you don’t have to worry that you didn’t keep your phone charged. You can set it up outside and get connected again.

So, whether you’re out in the wilderness, or struggling with a power outage at home, the Shine Turbine can make clean and green renewable energy from our windy weather.

Atlantic Canada is a culture of innovation and the Shine Turbine is a brilliant example of this.
