BREAKING: We just announced a $1 Billion Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI) to build thousands of new affordable housing units to address urgent housing needs of vulnerable Canadians.
When Canadians were asked to stay home to help contain the spread of COVID-19, too many were without a safe place during this pandemic. And now more than ever, a place of sanctuary, a place to call home is so important.
  • Launching through CMHC, the RHI will cover:
  • Land acquisition
  • Construction of modular housing
  • Acquisition of existing buildings to convert into affordable housing
  • The funding will be available to:
  • Municipalities
  • Provinces and Territories
  • Indigenous governing bodies and organizations
Non-profit organizations
This will help address the impact of a potential second wave of COVID-19 and provide housing solutions particularly for people experiencing homelessness or living in temporary accommodations.
