On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors, their families and communities who live with the inter-generational trauma inflicted by brutal colonial policies like the Residential Schools.
If we wish to continue walking the path toward reconciliation, we must continue to listen to Indigenous voices and learn the truth from Indigenous knowledge—every day, not just on September 30th.
Yesterday, we raised the flag at Halifax City Hall in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and to reaffirm that Every Child Matters.
