Thrilled to welcome paddlers from around the world to Dartmouth!

For the next five days, Lake Banook—and all of Dartmouth—will be the centre of the global paddling universe.

We’re proud to welcome the next generation of elite canoe sprint athletes right here in our own backyard for Canoe 2026, the ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships.

The excitement is already building. Tonight’s Opening Ceremonies showcased the incredible energy around Lake Banook as athletes, coaches, volunteers, and fans gathered from across the globe.

I encourage everyone to come out and cheer on Team Canada at Canoe ’26!!

With top international competition on beautiful Lake Banook and free admission, this is a great opportunity to experience the excitement of canoe sprint racing right here in Dartmouth.

Welcome to all the paddlers, and best of luck to Team Canada!
