Hi folks, I am thrilled to join you today for an exciting announcement.
We know that before this pandemic, and even more so today, isolation and loneliness disproportionately impact Canada’s seniors.
We must do everything we can to promote social participation and inclusion.
The New Horizons for Seniors program, provides grants to organizations that create opportunities for more seniors to become empowered and active members of their communities.
Today I am pleased to announce grants to the following organizations across Dartmouth—Cole Harbour:
- Hillside Wesleyan Church
- Regroupement des aînés de la Nouvelle-Écosse
- The Dartmouth Heritage Museum
- Oui 98,5
- Titans Gymnastics
- First Baptist Church Dartmouth
- Association of Black Social Workers
- Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club
- And the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum
These incredible groups are launching programs like gymnastics for seniors, webinars on fraud prevention, technology training, cultural programming in long-term care, gardening programs, lawn bowling, healthy active living opportunities, and outdoor yoga.
Thank you to every organization who submitted their incredible ideas and thank you to these wonderful groups who are helping create more opportunities for seniors here in Dartmouth—Cole Harbour!
